  • To RENT a boat from Dam Boat Rental:

    • You (the renter) are at least 26 years old at the time of rental.
    • You have a major credit card to put the security deposit & reservation on.

    To OPERATE a boat from Dam Boat Rental:

    • You (the operator) must be 26 years of age at the time of operation.
    • You have not had any DUI/OUI's in the last 3 years.
    • You can attest that you can adequately operate a pontoon boat.

    Requirements

    Beginning January 1, 2024, a person born on or after January 1, 1999, may not operate a motorboat greater than twenty-five (25) horsepower for recreational boating purposes on inland waters of this State or territorial waters, unless that person is 12 years of age or older and has completed a boater safety and education course. These persons must possess and present a boater safety and education course certificate for inspection upon request to a law enforcement officer. There are a few exemptions, such as for registered Maine guides (hunting, fishing, and recreational guides only), commercial fishermen, daily boat renters, and merchant mariners, please see the frequently asked questions section below for more information. 

    A person born after January 1, 1999 is also required to complete a boater safety and education course and be at least 16 years of age to operate a personal watercraft (such as a jet ski) on inland waters and territorial waters of the State or to supervise a person under 12 years of age who is operating a motorboat.

    Online Boating Education Courses

    There are currently three vendors that provide Maine online boating education courses. Once you have successfully completed this self-paced online course you will immediately be issued a boater safety and education course certificate. The online courses are:

    • BoatUS Foundation: This foundation is a nonprofit organization that champions boating safety.  This is a free online course that requests a $10 donation. 
    • Boat-Ed: This online course costs $34.95. 
    • Boattests101: This online course costs $24.95.

  • The following things are included in the reservation price:

    • Towels - We'll supply your boat with towels for your party
    • Cooler - We'll pack a cooler with ice for the first day of your rental. Use the cooler for your entire reservation (you'll just need to re-supply your ice!)
    • Renter's Insurance - You'll be covered for liability & some damage costs through vQuip (though we will take money for damages out of your security deposit first.)
    • Drop-Off & Pick-Up - We'll trailer & drop-off the boat to you, and pick it back up when you're all done.

  • Our pontoon boat is only available to be used on Damariscotta Lake.

  • No, we provide delivery and pick-up services.

  • Delivery & Pick-Up Service of the Pontoon Boat on Damariscotta Lake

    Our Assumptions:

    Because Damariscotta Lake does not have any public dockage, we assume that:

    • one-day rental reservations DO NOT have a private dock that we can deliver the boat to.
    • More than one-day rental reservations DO have a private dock that we can deliver a boat to.
    • Different situation? We can likely accommodate you, just contact us!

    For One-Day-Only Rental:

    • We will deliver the pontoon boat to the Jefferson Public Landing on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson.
    • The designated captain of the boat MUST be present to meet us & review safety materials.
    • Delivery will take place at 9am the day of reservation.
    •  The boat must be returned to the public landing no later than 5pm on the day of the reservation. The renter and designated captain must be present to sign the return paperwork.

    For More-Than-One-Day Rental:

    • We will deliver the pontoon boat to the private property's dock (address requested upon reservation.)
    • The designated captain of the boat MUST be present to meet us & review safety materials.
    • Delivery will take place at 9am the day of reservation.
    • We will pick up the pontoon boat by 5pm on the last day of the reservation at the same private property address. The renter and designated captain must be present to sign the return paperwork.

  • On the day of your reservation start, we drop off the boat to you at 9 am, and we pick up the boat at 5 pm on the last day of your reservation.

    Need to adjust the time? Call us to schedule a different time, and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

    However, there will be a fee if you miss (or are early to) scheduled drop off / pick up times.

  • We generally discourage pets aboard our boat.

    If you do decide to bring a pet aboard the boat, be aware that we will charge you the full security deposit for any damage or extra cleaning that is caused by pets (scratches/rips in furniture/flooring, urine & feces, excessive dog hair, etc.)

  • All weather cancellations are at the sole discretion of DBR staff.

    Cancellations will be considered under the following or similar conditions:

    • consistent rain or thunderstorms
    • winds of more than 25 mph or small craft warning
    • fog with less than a mile visibility

    These conditions must be present at the time of rental and be forecasted to persist throughout the rental period such that it prevents any use of the boat during the rental period.

    Cloudy skies, overcast, or less-than-ideal temperatures do not trigger a weather cancellation.

  • Deposits:

    - 50% of your reservation will be due at checkout.

    - At the time of boat pick-up, a $500 refundable security deposit will be due. If the boat is returned in satisfactory condition, your security deposit will be refunded.

    Cancellation Policy:

    - Full refund, minus a $25 cancelation fee if reservation is canceled at least 14 days prior to reservation date.

    - No refund for cancelations that occur within 14 days of the reservation date.

  • Yes, babies and children count towards the total capacity regardless of size or weight. Per Maine State Law, children under the age of 11 are required to wear a life jacket. If you have a life jacket that fits them well, you are encouraged to bring it. We have a limited number of children-sized life jackets available.  

  • Your first tank of gas is on us.
